This interactive, experiential professional development workshop provides you with the evidence-based knowledge and skills you need to confidently support your clients and staff to learn relaxation skills with nature-based practices. The workshop is suitable for workers in a wide range of roles that support other people.
From our workshop base at the rustic Woolshed Retreat, you will participate in learning activities that develop your knowledge, skills and confidence. The workshop will include a combination of indoor and outdoor activities including group discussions, personal reflections, relaxation techniques, mindfulness practices, nature craft and more. We will apply the workshop knowledge and skills to a wide range of work environments and contexts and you will leave the workshop feeling confident about implementing them in your own workplace. Nature immersion and nature connection are key aspects of this workshop.
Limited to a maximum of 10 participants for optimal learning, you’ll leave the workshop with a range of innovative, engaging and effective relaxation tools for yourself, your clients and your staff.

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this workshop you will:
- have a solid foundation of evidence-based psycho-education and skills to teach relaxation to other people using nature-based practices
- be able to explain the importance of relaxation for health and wellbeing
- understand the basic physiology of the nervous system (autonomic, sympathetic and para-sympathetic) and how the relaxation response works
- understand the link between nature and mental health
- have an understanding of a range of nature-based, evidence-based and evidence-informed relaxation practices that can be applied to a wide variety of contexts
- understand the value and importance of practising relaxation techniques yourself
- have a personalised draft action plan that supports you to implement your knowledge and skills in your workplace
- feel confident about supporting your clients and/or staff to learn and practise effective relaxation skills
- be able to identify reliable and credible sources of information from the maze of information that is currently on offer in the wellness industry
- be able to identify pathways for future learning and support
Participants will be provided with:
- pre-workshop reading material to prepare for and gain the most from the workshop (allow up to 1 hour reading time)
- a full day of facilitated learning in a relaxing and fun environment with access to an experienced and accredited mental health worker
- an electronic resource list
- an electronic Certificate of Attendance (8 hours professional development including pre-reading material)
- all materials and equipment needed for workshop activities – please bring your own notebook and pen
- a delicious and nutritious morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea – please advise any dietary needs in the NOTES section when you pay for your ticket

CANCELLATION POLICY
If you are unsure if this event is suitable for you, please contact us before registering. We reserve the right not to accept registrations on the basis that the event has been filled, cancelled or postponed, or on the basis of health concerns (eg COVID-19) or other professional considerations.
We reserve the right to cancel the event due to insufficient registrations, sickness, injury, health concerns, COVID-19 considerations or any other unexpected situations. If this happens, you will be notified as soon as possible and provided with a full refund or credit.
If you are unable to come to the workshop after registering, you may:
- transfer your ticket to another eligible participant and advise us of the details as soon as possible so we can approve the ticket transfer and update our enrolment form
- gift your registration fee towards a bursary to support someone else to attend a workshop or retreat
- request a refund (you are eligible for a full refund less a $50 administration fee if cancelled on or before 21/02/2023; you are eligible for a 50% refund less a $50 administration fee if cancelled between 22/02/2023 and 07/04/2023; no refunds if cancelled after 07/04/2023)
