The Adventure Therapy Project – Bird Watching

The birdwatching workshops are FREE  however registrations are essential and places are limited. Women and girls living or working in the Southern Downs Regional Council area are invited to participate. You are welcome to register for one, two or all three of the workshops! You’re sure to have a different experience and see different birds each time.
 
This event is suitable for the beginner bird watcher to the well practiced birder. Come along to learn the basics, fine tune your skills or simply join a group of like-minded people. No matter your skill level you are welcome. Please note, you will be required to sign a waiver form before participating.
 
Bird watching will consist of a slow paced, gentle walk with frequent stops and is suitable for all fitness levels.

You are welcome to register for one, two or all three of the workshops! You’re sure to have a different experience and see different birds each time.

Clothing:

– sunscreen
– covered shoes
– comfortable and sun-protective clothing

Footwear:
– Wear sturdy covered shoes suitable for walking in the bush such as your walking shoes, trail runners or hiking shoes/boots.

Equipment Requirement:

– Water
– Bring your own snacks
– Coffee cup (if you would like to share a cuppa afterwards)
– Sunscreen
– Binoculars or a camera (if you have them)
– Notepad and pen if you would like to take notes or record sightings
– Smart phone or tablet if you want to learn to use eBird

Highlights:

– Learn how start, improve or fine tune your birding capability
– Spend time with like-minded women
– Learn how to use eBird
– Discover the diversity of life on your doorstep

What’s included:
– Bird watching session with a local qualified guide with a Bachelor of Wildlife Science, Remote First Aid Qualifications, and field guiding experience

Weather:
We love the outdoors in all sorts of weather but this workshop may be postponed if there are extreme climatic or other unexpected events. If you have any concerns about the day, feel free to email your guide Emma at emmajane@emmawaltonguiding.com
